HAPPY 2015
As you can see we are back in "paradise!" Grenada is its lovely self and we are thrilled to see old friends again. Steve & Hope, s/v Starshine, invited us to go for a swim at the St. George's University's swimming pool here in Prickly Bay where we are anchored.
The pool was being cleaned so we had to sit around for an hour catching up. It was like really being on vacation after all it took to put Moody Blues back together and launched.
With the jack stands removed, Nick, this cool rasta guy, covers the patches with the new "midnight blue" bottom paint. Being Moody blues is only in the water for 3-4 months a year these past few years, why keep buying the expensive bottom paint. So Gene opted for 2 gallons of black and one gallon of blue = midnight blue.
Moody Blues was supposed to be launched at 0900, but it ended up being 1110. Two boats were side-tied at the dock at the ways, and both had engine problems. We were going to spend the weekend at the dock as it makes for easier provisioning, but with the other boats broken down we just went out and anchored in Prickly Bay where the tradewinds added greatly to our acclimation to the 80-something degrees heat and the 79-80-something degree humidity.
In my frenzy to "get out of Dodge," I forgot to pack my 35mm DSLR camera's battery charger AND the USB (photo) transfer cable. I was so concerned about getting my scanner safely packed that I somehow overlooked the other two necessary devices. You may end up seeing a lot of out of focus pictures like the above, while I get used to Gene's cute little bright orange FinePix XP 70 Series underwater camera. The image is not seen through a viewfinder, but seen in the LCD display, which I can barely see in all the bright sunlight. As Forest Gump so eloquently put it: "Shit happens." (But of course I'm furious with myself!)
This is Hope and Steve off of s/v Starshine. They had us over for New Year's Eve with another Steve off of s/v Certitude. Starshine Steve is a chef, so we had a fabulous meal and this wonderful sparkling wine: Prosecca (sp). Our new year's resolution: drink less rum and more wine.
Happy New Year everyone.
Hummmmm...less rum and more wine? We're thinking less wine and more water!
